contemporary art today.
Some believe that all art today is “complete bullshit” (quote from anonymous source) but I am a firm believer in the ability of contemporary art to be transportive and enlightening.
Here are just a few contemporary artworks that I believe transport, engage and immersive visitors.
Olfaur Eliasson’s Riverbed:
Per Kristian Nyogãrd’s Not Red But Green installation:
And Baitogogo by Henrique Oliveira
Why do I love these works? Because they are immersive. They create another world. They challenge our already preconceptions of the world.
Another question to ask is why these works are so powerful? And why artists and curators are creating this immersive installations more and more? What does that tell us about the changing face of the art gallery? Is the contemporary gallery moving away from pictures on the wall?
I am going to leave you with all those questions.
Enjoy.
