bansky strikes again.

IMG_0848

Bansky is amazing.

The infamous artist has struck again with a a scribbly school girl bowling a realistic tyre along a 14 ft wall and note to Bridge Farm primary school in bristol.

Banksy School01-1.jpg

What could the meaning of this work be?   Some believe it is referencing Martha Cooper’s Street play series, and is using dark humor to comment on kids growing up in today’s world.

The work came with a letter saying: “Dear Bridge Farm School, thanks for your letter and naming a house after me. Please have a picture, and if you don’t like it, feel free to add stuff. I’m sure the teachers won’t mind. Remember, it’s always easier to get forgiveness than permission. Much love, Banksy.”

What a cool dude!

Senior Style

IMG_0848

I have been a fan for advanced style for quite some time now and I think you all should check it out.

Ari Seth Cohen’s photographs of these stylish seniors is great. I love them for so many reasons. One, they challenge the traditional cultural norms surrounding ageing and beauty. Two, they remind me of my grandmother.

IMG_0848

Who wouldn’t want to have the opportunity to study and learn in the infamous Bauhaus (in Dessau)?

Well now is your opportunity!

IMG_0095

The annual Interdisciplinary Lab at Bauhaus Dessau Foundation is taking place 4 May – 9 August, 2015.

Bauhaus Dessau is calling for expressions of interest from young professionals working in architecture, design, fine arts and curatorial practice.

The 2015 lab is titled ‘Cracks in the Curtain Wall – Beyond an Architecture of Cleanliness’ and will focus on the new material culture of modern architecture from a little noticed perspective – cleaning. The program will end with an exhibition at the Housekeeping Fair 2015.

Participation in the lab is free. To join, applicants are required to complete statement of interest. An international jury will choose eight participants by 4 April.

looking into film history part one

MC3

A new series of posts in relation to film history.

Why haven’t we started archiving and collecting important moments from the history of film? It also seems appropriate as the Academy Awards were this week so it fits in with the whole buzz that surrounds the award season. As well, the history of film is so fascinating.

So to start off. Here is the Lumiere Brother’s first film from 1895 entitled Leaving the Factory.

Tada! A post!

I found some old footage of the island of lipari in italy.

It is a lovely island paradise that i love.

This footage shows how life used to be on the island (some of it has not changed that much).

Do you think these island paradise will still exist in a few years time? How should we preserve their local heritage?
